Evan Simko-Bednarski is a documentary photographer based in New York City.
Born in Jersey City and raised in Bayonne, N.J., Evan received his bachelor's degree in philosophy and government from Wesleyan University in 2007, and graduated with honors from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in 2014.
Evan's work has appeared in such outlets as CNN, Oxford American, The Nation, The Atlantic Wire and the Columbia Journalism Review. Evan was chosen among the Class of 2018 at the Click! Photo Festival in Durham, N.C.
A high school student in New York City on 9/11 and a long-term relief worker in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, much of Evan's personal work focuses on aftermath and recovery, geography and meaning, and the death and regrowth of cities and towns.
Evan is currently living in Brooklyn, N.Y., and is available for editorial, portrait, event and journalistic assignments. He works in film and digital formats and maintains a black and white darkroom. Contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org
